Oakland, CA – Due to the overwhelming success of Dancing Under the Stars, Jack London Square will offer an additional four-event series of free outdoor dance classes on select Friday nights through the end of September. Singles and couples alike can practice their sizzling salsa moves, learn new Latin dances like the Cha Cha, or do the Hustle while listening to disco. Live bands will add a new level of entertainment to the program, with well-known local favorites such as Edgardo Cambon and Salsa Caliente.
Novices and experienced dancers are all welcome to spend the evening dancing outdoors on Oakland’s celebrated waterfront. Professionally-taught lessons by Linden Street Dance Studio will begin at 7:30 PM, and an open dance will begin at 8:30 PM. No reservation is required, and all ages are welcome.

Instruction for Dancing Under the Stars is provided by Linden Street Dance Studio. The Studio – located just blocks from Jack London Square – has been offering classes in social and ballroom dance to beginning and advanced students since 2006. The staff of professional instructors will guide students through each step with personalized attention. Experienced “dance hosts” will be on hand at each session to partner with participants. For those who wish to continue their exploration of dance beyond Dancing Under the Stars, Linden Street offers free group classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.
The extended Dancing Under the Stars classes will provide a variety of dance styles to satisfy any dance enthusiast, including Salsa, Swing, the Hustle, the Rumba and Cha Cha. Guests need not bring a partner.
For those who work up an appetite on the dance floor, there are many opportunities for fine dining at Jack London Square. Cocina Poblana, Miss Pearl’s Jam House, Scott’s Seafood, Il Pescatore, Kincaids and Hahn’s Hibachi offer a variety of dining experiences with fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
