Oakland, CA – Ellis Partners LLC today announced that Hahn’s Hibachi restaurant has extended their lease for 5 additional years on Oakland’s waterfront. Hahn’s is one of the many restaurants in and around Jack London Square which have made the area an emerging culinary center.

Founded in 1978, Hahn’s Hibachi is a true family business. The Hahn family opened their first restaurant on Clement Street in San Francisco only 4 years after emigrating from Inchon, Korea. Now the Bay Area’s premier Korean Barbecue restaurant, Hahn’s currently boasts 4 locations on both sides of the Bay. In addition to innovative fare, the restaurant’s Jack London location features equally captivating architecture. The building’s unique combination of marble, copper, and fine woodwork were inspired by the work of Bay Area architect David Bass. The restaurant occupies 2,300 square feet at 63 Franklin Street on Oakland’s historic waterfront.
“For the past 10 years, this has been a fantastic location for us,” said Hahn’s owner Evelyn Kim. “It’s an exciting time to be in Jack London Square, as the whole area is transformed.”
The Square will soon be home to the Jack London Market; a 170,000 SF mixed-use building which will include a two story public market housing a variety eateries and as many as 70 vendors of artisanal food and produce. The market, set to be the largest on the West Coast, is expected to open in early 2009. The sustainably designed building is part of a $300 million, 1 million square foot redevelopment of the area.
