Ellis Partners delivers mass timber, LEED platinum buildings for YouTube’s headquarters expansion

San Bruno, CA – Ellis Partners is proud to announce that YouTube’s headquarters expansion, which includes two mass timber buildings at 1400 and 1450 Bayhill in San Bruno, is certified #LEEDPlatinum! The 6.5 acre campus also includes 2.8 acres of pollinator supportive planting areas, a 391,000 gallon rainwater harvesting system which makes it possible to divert up to 1.3M gallons of water per year, and a 5.3 MWH battery microgrid which is expected to generate 1.4MW of solar energy. Using sustainably sourced mass timber and other low-carbon materials is estimated to have reduced the carbon emissions by nearly 22,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, and we also introduced 475 native trees to the surrounding landscape. We are grateful to Google and YouTube for their leadership and for entrusting Ellis Partners as development and construction manager for this innovative project. It was an honor to have worked alongside the talented professionals at McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., EHDD, CBRE, Holmes US, CMG Landscape Architecture, Point Energy Innovations (to name just a few!) to bring William McDonough + Partners’ design to life. And a huge thank you to the entire City of San Bruno (community, city staff and elected officials!) for their partnership throughout.
