Mayfield House Brings Neighborhood-Centric Rustic Bakery to Palo Alto’s Town & Country Village

Palo Alto, CA – A new scratch bakery is coming to Palo Alto – and it is named to reflect the community’s history. Bacchus Management Group has announced plans for the creation of the “Mayfield House” at the Town & Country Village in Palo Alto. The restaurant will be a scratch bakery and café that will provide everyday comfort food in a setting that reflects the desires of the community for an everyday casual dining experience. Mayfield Township existed in the area from 1855 to 1925 before being annexed into Palo Alto.

Proprietor Tim Stannard, owner of six other Bay Area restaurants, describes Mayfield House concept as a “beautiful small retail scratch bakery, with a café that provides for an everyday casual dining experience.”

The menu will include items from a wood burning oven and rotisserie. Freshly roasted chickens and pork roasts, wood fire oven baked pizzas, healthy salads and tasty soups will also be available as food-to-go. Menu items will reflect a range of options, from a fresh baked pastry to competitively priced dinner entrées.

“We are really excited to have Mayfield House be a part of the Town & Country Village. It fits perfectly with our concept of providing a mix of everyday and specialty stores,” said Jim Ellis, Principal of the Ellis Partners. “The scratch bakery and café will provide customers with high quality food choices in a casual atmosphere.”

Mayfield House is scheduled to open mid-Summer 2008. It expects to employ 35 full-time employees at the restaurant.

“We have been looking forward to this bakery concept for years and now all the pieces have come together,” added Tim Stannard. “It is a preeminent location on the Peninsula and a perfect easy stopping point for residents – whether they are looking for a quick cup of coffee, a great bite to eat, or something to bring home to their family.”
