Sungevity Relocates Headquarters to Jack London Square

Oakland, CA – Sungevity and Ellis Partners LLC today announced that the solar startup will relocate its headquarters to Oakland’s Jack London Square.  Sungevity, a leading online solar provider, will occupy 19,000 square feet in the historic 66 Franklin building.  The move comes in response to the company’s rapid growth and increased demand for Sungevity’s unique process.

“This is a tremendous location for us to continue our expansion,” said Sungevity co-founder and president, Danny Kennedy.  “We’re now within easy reach of all the Bay Area’s business centers and every imaginable form of transportation.  We’re delighted to bring our headquarters to Jack London Square.”
“Sustainability is a core value of Jack London Square’s ongoing renewal,” said Jim Ellis, Managing Principal of Ellis Partners LLC, which along with Transbay Holdings LLC is undertaking a $375 million redevelopment of Jack London Square.  “We’re excited to welcome a dynamic, growing business focused on renewable energy.  Sungevity is an ideal fit for us.”
The three-year lease comprises 19,000 square feet in the 66 Franklin Street building, formerly an ice warehouse constructed in 1926.  The third-floor space offers sweeping water views and extensive tenant amenities.  As part of the Jack London Square redevelopment, the building was recently restored to its original luster, revealing straight parapets, pilasters, and soaring archways.  Bocanova restaurant and Miette Bakery occupy the ground floor of the building.  66 Franklin sits adjacent to the new Jack London Market building which was awarded LEED Silver certification this January.
Since its founding in 2007, Sungevity has rapidly become a leader in the residential solar power industry.  Sungevity is unique among solar providers with its revolutionary internet-based system for providing home estimates to consumers, bringing “Sunshine Online.”  Sungevity’s proprietary software uses satellite images and aerial photography to remotely and accurately assess a home’s solar potential.  The system measures available roof space, determines the tilt and direction the roof, and identifies possible shade obstacles that might interfere with a solar installation.  Sungevity then designs two to five system size options, taking into account all available rebates and incentives to provide the most affordable solar solution for your home.  Sungevity consultants personally design every system to fit specific solar goals.  While most traditional solar companies require an onsite assessment, Sungevity and its Network of Preferred Installers save consumers time and money by bringing this process online.
Originally offering service exclusively in Northern California, Sungevity recently extended its reach into Southern California including San Diego and the greater Los Angeles region.  The move to Jack London Square will allow Sungevity to further expand its capacity.  Sungevity will retain its existing office space in Berkeley for additional sales teams.
